Does Your Building Require a Fire Safety Plan?
Many residential, commercial, assembly and industrial buildings in Ontario are required to have a Fire Safety Plan.
A Fire Safety Plan helps establish and document the fire safety systems, emergency procedures and responsibilities needed to protect building occupants and support safe building operations.
Fire Safety Plans are specific to each property and should reflect the building layout, occupancy, fire protection systems and operating conditions.
Building owners and responsible parties should determine whether their property requires a Fire Safety Plan and keep the plan current as building conditions change.
Requirements are set out in Section 2.8 of Division B of the Ontario Fire Code.
